Required Application Items

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV): Highlight ultrasound-specific teaching, research, and leadership.
  • Personal Statement: Explain your interest in AEMUS and your post-fellowship career goals.
  • Three Letters of Recommendation: One letter must be from your Residency Program Director (confirming good standing).
  • Board Eligibility: Proof that you will be ABEM/AOBEM board-certified or eligible by the fellowship start date.

Conditions of Employment

In addition to the general application requirements, fellows must meet the following criteria by the time of entry into the fellowship:

  • Be a graduate of an accredited emergency medicine residency.
  • Be a licensed physician in the state of Tennessee.
  • Be a licensed physician in the state of North Carolina.
  • Be credentialed as a member of the Erlanger Medical Staff.

The program coordinator and credentialing staff provide full administrative support for obtaining all necessary medical licenses and hospital credentialing immediately following Match Day.

Compensation & Clinical Schedule

Fellows work 6 clinical shifts per month at the primary clinical site. The fellowship provides competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package.

Registration & Application Instructions

1. SCUF Portal

SCUF (Society of Clinical Ultrasound Fellowships) hosts the portal where you upload documents and select programs.

  • Action: Create an account, upload your CV and letters, and submit to your chosen programs.

2. NRMP Match

You must register for the "Match" separately to legally secure a position.

  • Website: NRMP Match
  • Action: Register for the Emergency Medicine Fellowship Match. You will receive an NRMP ID.

3. Link Platforms

Once you have your NRMP ID, you must manually enter it into your SCUF profile. This allows programs to find and rank you in the match system.

Projected 2026 Timeline (for 2027-2028 Academic Year)

  • July 2026: SCUF application portal typically opens for submissions.
  • August 2026: NRMP Match registration opens.
  • September–October 2026: Interview season.
  • October 15, 2026: Application Deadline.
  • Early November 2026: Deadline to submit your Rank Order List to NRMP.
  • Mid-November 2026: Match Day.
